[ There's a quick pan of Peter's general surroundings - something that looks like a whole lot of nature: trees, a vast skyline, pretty colours, that kind of thing. It might be some part of Northern Canada, but there's something very decidedly un-Earth-y about the scenery too.
Either way, it's absolutely beautiful.
The camera briefly goes a little blurry before Peter flips the lens on himself to give a little wave. ]
So, uh. They definitely didn't have this kind of view back home.
[ Kate's done her fair share of traveling. Even before her impromptu visit to space or any absurd places she'd stumbled into with the Young Avengers, she had plenty of foreign locales to check off as vacation spots or tag-alongs on her dad's business trips.
But okay, it's been a long time since she's ventured more on the countryside, even longer since she's taken the time to stop and actually appreciate it.
And Peter's got that cute little sparkle in his eye, all pure and dazzled by the sight, it's hard not to be a little amused. ]
Aw, look at you, ya little hitchhiking tourist.
[ She teases, but it'd be nice to be out there, instead of her continued run-around in town, trying to get her agency thing going. Even as she walks, her focus is on the camera. ] Blowing your little city boy mind?
[ Peter laughs. ] Don't judge, okay? I never grew up with a whole lot of nature ... unless I took a really far drive up northern New York, and like. I honestly didn't have much of a reason to.
[ The city was its own kind of wilderness. ]
It's pretty awesome here though. [ He shrugs. ] I - uh. I kinda wish you were here too.
No judgement. Everybody's got their time. Sometimes it takes a little universe hopping to get those countryside legs working.
[ That additional comment distracts her for a moment though, long enough to make her stumble a step from not paying attention.
She absolutely plays it cool though, realigning the camera before finally locating a bench to settle onto for the time being. ]
Well, of course you do. You don't have a selfie stick, so how else are you gonna get those pristine shots of you with that luscious green background? That's a view anyone would slap onto their screensaver.
I'm not gonna be using a picture of myself as my screensaver.
[ That's ... weird, okay. ]
I did take some pretty cool shots today though. I mean, I've got no way of actually developing this film but it felt good to do it. It felt kind of ... normal, like for a second I wasn't on some weird alien planet but back home.
And it's not dumb, it's — [ She rolls her wrist, waving her hand as she considers how to explain herself. ] Take it from me. As someone who's had her time reality-hopping through bizarro worlds one after another, you gotta do something that borderlines normalcy to keep yourself sane. At the time, I wrote out journal entries daily, just to pretend that it was just some ordinary occurrence in the back alleys of a New York neighborhood.
[ Until eventually, all the "weird" became her new normal, of course. ]
[ It's a compliment he's just going to not say anything about because it's kind of cute, and he's gonna do that thing where he's terrible at accepting a compliment but quietly treasure it.
He looks thoughtful though, his face a silhouette against the setting sun behind him. ]
Huh. [ She pauses, lips pursed for a moment as she actually considers. ]
I mean, technically, I've been keeping them since I was a kid. You know how it is at that age — gotta keep record of your heroics, making your life seem a thousand times bigger than it is. And then it did get big, and I just kept going. For a while. But ... guess it's been a while since I've done it. Haven't had anything to write in while I've been here.
We could look for something. [ Like, together. Peter thinks he might have seen a stall selling writing paraphernalia in the marketplace the last time he'd been there.
Not that he'd paid close attention to it or anything. ] Like a really cool notebook. Or a scroll? Do they use scrolls here?

How long did you do it? Keep a journal, I mean?

You could go old-school.
